Kyle J. Betit, BS


Kyle J. Betit, BS (Biology) is a professional genealogist, lecturer and author residing in Salt Lake City, Utah. He was a co-editor of the popular journal The Irish At Home and Abroad, and is co-author of A Genealogist's Guide to Discovering Your Irish Ancestors. He is a member of the Association of Professional Genealogists (APG) and the National Genealogical Society (NGS), The National Writer's Union, and the Genealogical Speakers Guild.  

Kyle makes frequent trips to on-site research locations throughout the United States, Canada, Ireland, France, Germany, Eastern Europe and other European countries to conduct research for clients. He has spoken at National Genealogical Society and Federal of Genealogical Societies conferences, as well as given presentations to the New England Historic Genealogical Society, the New York Biographical and Genealogical Society, British Isles Family History Society (USA), British Isles Family History Society of Great Ottawa, Quebec Family History Society, Association of Professional Genealogists in Ireland, and to many other groups over the years.
 
Kyle is an Instructor for the U.S. Internet genealogy certificate course program offered by the University of Toronto and the National Institute of Genealogical Studies

Kyle writes a column on Irish research that appears in the Canadian on-line genealogy magazine Global Gazette. He has written articles for many genealogical publications including Ancestry, Heritage Quest, Family Chronicle, and New England Ancestors.

He studied biology and chemistry at Dartmouth College and holds a BS degree in biology, with minors in chemistry and philosophy, from the University of Utah. He has applied genealogy research to various medical genetics studies. He has given presentations on "genealogy and genetics" at the University of North Carolina Chapel Hill, University of Utah, University of Vermont, and Oxford University in England.
